Wines & Villas

Besides great tuscan wines, the Antinori estate offers the traveler comfortable, well situated apartments in classic old countryside villas.  Weekly and daily rates are available, and they can handle everything from couples to large families.  The estate is made up of several “clusters” of farm house type accommodations, plus a central office, restaurant, and recreation area. The restaurant is a very small, limited selection room used mostly for breakfast.  Nearby is a pool, tennis court, and fitness center.  The office staff is very helpful, and they have a computer available to check your e-mail, at no charge.

The proximity of both Florence and Siena, the beauty of the Chianti countryside, and the possibility of a wide range of eno-gastronomical delights coupled with the richness of these sought-after surroundings and the particular care we put into our hospitality make Fonte de’ Medici an incredibly “special choice for special days.”

Fonte de’ Medici is comprised of three clusters of wholly restructured and newly equipped farmhouses surrounded by vineyards. The name itself goes back to 1400 when travelers between Florence and Siena would rest and drink from the spring that still passes through the village of Santa Maria a Macerata before continuing on their journey to the nearby Badia a Passignano, then a powerful Benedictine monastery.

Santa Maria a Macerata today houses the reception and common areas: swimming pool, restaurant, conference room, wellness center, tennis and several apartments. The other two farmhouses, Podere Tignanello and Podere Vivaio, are located on the hill facing Santa Maria and are easily reached by following a picturesque country road that intersects the vineyards.

Each of the charming apartments is named after grape or olive varieties, reminding one of being in one of the most famous wine and olive oil producing areas in the world.
